VESTAL (WBNG) -- The Binghamton men's lacrosse team will travel to NJIT Saturday for the 2021 season opener.

Coach Kevin McKeown said with it being a full year since they last played a game, the team is eager to get back on the field.

McKeown said with a schedule consisting of nine conference games, the team made the most of its preseason practices, and they feel prepared heading into Saturday.

"This year we've got all of our starters back except one so we think we're in a good position to do that," he said. "Obviously not having been out there yet against somebody else, we'll see this weekend but we like our chances especially if we keep getting better every week."

McKeown said he's hoping to instill three core values within the team.

"What we want to do as a program every day is be disciplined, selfless and tough," he said. "We have different ways that we try to do that ton and off the field. I think our guys have bought into it."

Senior Tom Galgano said the goal remains to make it to the America East championship, but he understands its season will bring some obstacles.

"It's really about riding the highs and the lows...Couple less practices than we normally would have but we take each day, and as long as we're doing the right thing to take one step forward every day, that's all we're looking for," said Galgano.

Game time Saturday is at 1 p.m.
