(WBNG) -- Not too long ago, we told you about Max, a dog living at the Susquehanna SPCA for 444 days. One man from Moravia saw Max, and knew he had found his new best friend.
After spending more than a year just at the Susquehanna SPCA, Max finally has a home to call his own.
"We can't get over how it seems like he's been this guy's dog forever," said Susquehanna SPCA Executive Director, Stacie Haynes.
Ed Panus from Moravia says when he saw Max, he knew he felt an instant connection to the dog.
"I noticed he was almost like the dog I had that passed away here at the end of last year," said Panus.
During a quick check on Max, staff were amazed to see how well he is adjusting to life outside the shelter. Prior to his adoption, staff members were concerned about the transition.
"When we first got here, he was just running around loose, just running laps, he was totally showing the place off," said Haynes.
Max now has a house on the lake and plenty of space to run. Staff members say he's living the life of luxury. Most importantly, he now has the best friend he's been waiting for.
"He sits up on the couch with me to watch TV, he's great. He comes into the house like he's been here forever," said Panus.
For Max, it was all worth the wait. If you are interested in adopting an animal from the Susquehanna SPCA, head over to their website.
