TOWN OF FENTON (WBNG) -- Chenango Valley senior Elijah Lanfear signed his national letter of intent to continue his swimming career at Binghamton University.
Lanfear has been apart of the Chenango Valley swim program since the seventh grade.
Lanfear said Binghamton was the best choice for him.
"Academics is definitely a plus at the school," said Lanfear. "It was definitely the advantage over the other schools I was looking at. I think that's what made me decide in the end."
Lanfear holds school records in ten different races including three relay records. In 2020, he became the public high school state champion in the 100 free. Lanfear is the first Chenango Valley boy swimmer to win a state title.
In the 2021 season, Lanfear was ranked number one in the state in the 50 free and 100 fly.
Lanfear is undecided on his major.
