NICHOLS (WBNG) -- Starting Monday, the statewide 11 p.m. curfew on gyms, movie theaters, bowling alleys, and casinos has been lifted.
It's a major step for those businesses that have struggled with pandemic-related restrictions.
Tioga Downs Casino in Nichols nearly closed during the past year, but was able to remain open and are now receiving this lifeline of lifted curfew restrictions.
"Slowly but surely, we're getting back. I think people are seeing that light at the end of the tunnel," said Director of Marketing Jim Weed.
Tioga County Chamber of Commerce CEO Andrew Hafer said Tioga Downs' ability to remain open is essential to the many people that are employed by the casino.
"The number of jobs that the Downs has given our citizens throughout the county is very impactful," he said.
The Tioga County Chamber of Commerce awarded Tioga Downs with the Spotlight on Business Award for April for the casino's work in supporting the community during the pandemic.
