ONEONTA, N.Y. (WBNG) -- New York State Police say it is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the City of Oneonta, N.Y. Tuesday afternoon.

State Police say the Oneonta Police Department responded to a report of a domestic incident on River Street around 12:57 p.m. on April 6.

Authorities say police found a male armed with a knife. During the incident with the subject, an officer fired his weapon and shot the subject, police say.

Police say the male was airlifted to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

State Police say the circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
