ITHACA (WBNG) -- Wanting to celebrate the end of the school year, Ithaca College issued a reminder to students to stay the course in keeping COVID-19 at bay as the semester concludes.
Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life Rosanna Ferro sent a message to all students. In the message, she said she appreciated the sacrifices and accomplishments of the student body.
She also warned students to maintain social distance and avoid large off-campus celebrations.
The college also said it will allow students to celebrate safely on campus with its 'Spring Fling'.
Ferro warned that students who participate in "unsanctioned, unstructured events" could result in sanctions from the college.
“I remind you that the Ithaca College Community Agreement prohibits members of our IC community from participating in mass gatherings. Additionally, I ask our students to please be mindful of the potential negative impacts – both personally and for our greater IC community – that large-scale gatherings could have", Ferro stated.
As an alternative to the usual celebrations, the college will host 'Spring Fling' on May 7. The college will celebrate with free food and activities.
