(WBNG) -- May is Older Americans month and to honor local seniors in the community, the Ross Park Zoo is hosting a Senior Appreciation Day on Tuesday, May 18th.
Local leaders, including County Executive Jason Garnar and Mayor Rich David, gathered last Friday at the zoo to make the annoucement.
Phillip Ginter, Executive Director of the Ross Park Zoo, explained that since Broome County is an aging community, the Zoo wanted to find a way to support seniors in the area.
People 65-years and older will have free admission into the zoo on Tuesday, May 18th. There will also be programs and on-site activities for seniors to participate in and learn more about. The gates open at 11 AM.
As part of Older Americans Month, the Ross Park Zoo is also giving membership discounts to those aged 55-years and older.
