(WBNG) -- The Scleroderma Foundation Tri-State Chapter will hold its virtual 'Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma' event on Saturday, June 26th, 2021.

The family -friendly event brings together people with Scleroderma, their families, friends and dedicated volunteers to honor and support those with the autoimmune disease.

The event will also feature a speakers, a silent auction, and special performances which can be found on the Foundation's Facebook and Youtube pages.

Funds raised from the event will help provide education, research, and support services to the Scleroderma community.

Bruce Cowan, Executive Director of the Scleroderma Foundation, explains that the disease is not very common and impacts only about 1 in 1000 people.

Cowan adds it's important to recognize the disease early to get treatments so people who have Scleroderma can live a more productive quality of life.

Typically, the foundation holds a walk -- and has been doing so for the past 19 years -- but due to covid, had to adapt to a virtual format this year.

Participants who wish to attend can register by clicking here.

The registration fee is $30 for participants 16+, $10 for children aged 5-15, and any child under five can attend free of charge.

You can also register or donate by mail to the Tri-State chapter's Office at 59 Front Street in Binghamton.
