BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- The YWCA is expanding thanks to local funding.
The facility is adding beds for homeless women and children in the area with their emergency housing shelter expansion.
The YWCA said that due to the pandemic, there has been a greater need for shelter units in the Binghamton area.
Two large community rooms in the building will become a living space for women and children and allow for nine beds.
There will be a kitchen and a wheelchair-accessible bathroom and shower as well.
The expansion is being partly funded by the city of Binghamton cares act funding.
