Binghamton police investigating shots fired incident on Chapin and North streets


BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- The Binghamton Police Department is seeking the public's help with an investigation into a shots fired incident that occurred Tuesday afternoon.

According to a news release, police said officers responded to a report of shots fired on Chapin and North streets around 3 p.m.

Police said officers determined five shots were fired from a handgun at the intersection. Two suspects were seen fleeing north on Chapin Street, they said.

According to authorities, gunfire struck an uninvolved, but occupied, vehicle that was stopped at a red light on Main Street at Chapin Street. They said no one was hurt in the incident.
