(WBNG) -- United Way's Day of Action is just around the corner.

The two day event, which focuses on service and volunteering, will take place on Friday, June 18th and Saturday, June 19th.

"It is a United Way, network-wide day of service -- volunteering specifically. This is our first year as United Way of Broome County participating in a volunteer capacity," explained Maria Cataldo, Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for United Way of Broome County.

Cataldo adds that there are about 17 projects throughout Broome County that volunteers can participate in which include cleaning, weeding, and painting, to name a few.

United Way is encouraging members of the community to volunteer.
