(WBNG) -- New York State Police announced charges against a suspect connected to the shooting of a State Trooper Friday.

State Police said Jason D. Johnson was arraigned Friday morning on two counts of attempted murder in the first degree, a class A-1 felony, at Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.

Trooper Becky Seager was shot in the hip. She was released from the hospital Thursday afternoon shortly after police announced Johnson was taken into custody.

The shooting occurred in the Town of Colesville near West Windsor Road on Wednesday.

A second trooper sustained a shrapnel injury during an exchange of gunfire with Johnson, State Police said.

The manhunt for Johnson lasted nearly 20 hours. He was taken into custody near a riverbank off State Route 79 in Colesville without incident.
