One dead after hit-and-run crash in Cincinnatus

7:00 A.M. Update -- State Police have identified the person who died as a 67-year-old male from De Ruyter, NY while another bicyclist suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

State police say the vehicle in question was found in the Town of Willet by a Cortland County Sheriff's Deputy.

At this time investigators are still conducting interviews with the person believed to have been operating the vehicle.

According to 511NY, the section of NY 26 between Telephone Road and Taylor Valley Road has been reopened in both directions.


UPDATE -- According to State Police, one person is dead and another is being taken to a hospital.

State Police say the crash happened on NY 26 around 7:30 P.M. Tuesday. They add a group of four people were biking on NY 26 when two people were hit by the vehicle. One was pronounced dead and the other was taken to Upstate Medical Hospital in Syracuse with unknown injuries.

Authorities are currently looking for the vehicle and interviewing people in the area for more information.

They say it is between Telephone Road. and Taylor Valley Road. All lanes are closed.

According to Cortland Police, it is a hit-and-run involving bicycles.
