Arrest made after driver crashes into Windsor residence

WINDSOR (WBNG) -- The Broome County Sheriff's Office said one person was arrested and charged after crashing their vehicle into a house on Route 79 in the Town of Windsor Tuesday evening.

According to a news release, the Sheriff's Office said upon arrival, the driver, a Binghamton resident, appeared to be under the influence. They said he performed poorly on sobriety tests.

The driver was taken into custody under the suspicion that he was driving while impaired, the Sheriff's Office said.

The Sheriff's Office said they determined that he was "under the influence of a narcotic analgesic and a central nervous system stimulant."

Authorities charged the driver with driving while ability impaired, an unclassified misdemeanor, and other traffic violations.

The Sheriff's Office said there were no injuries in the incident but the home sustained significant property damage.
