ENDICOTT (WBNG) -- For the first time since 2019, fans are back at En-Joie Golf Course for the 2021 DICK'S Sporting Goods Open.
You may remember the 2020 edition of the Southern Tier classic was canceled due to COVID-19. But after some careful planning, fans expressed excitement to finally be back.
"It's so great to be back," said Tom Bucker, who's been attending the open for the last 30 years. "This is just such a big part of our community, and it's nice that everybody can get together."
While En-Joie is a familiar spot for Bucker, it's brand new scenery for Ryan Hodges.
"I've only played two games of golf in my entire life, so I figured why not watch some older pros come and play," he said. " I'm really excited to learn some more golf."
Tournament coordinator Sarah Yezzi echoed those sentiments and thanked fans and volunteers for their continued support.
"It's great," said Yezzi. "We have the best volunteers in the world. We couldn't do it without them, and of course, the people who come every year to watch the golfers. The golfers appreciate that we appreciate, and we welcome that support every year."
The 2021 tournament wraps up with the final round on July 4.
