Power outages, downed trees, powerlines reported around Southern Tier due to Thunderstorms

(WBNG) -- A number of power outages are being reported across the Southern Tier this evening in accordance with the severe thunderstorms entering the area.

More than 5,000 customers are reported by NYSEG as being without power as of 7 P.M. this evening in the City of Binghamton, and the Towns of Barker, Chenango, Dickinson, Fenton, and Maine.

More than 160 customers are without power in the Towns of Maine, Chenango, Owego, and Union, as per NYSEG's outage map.

In the northwestern part of the county, NYSEG customers in and near Lisle, Cincinnatus, Marathon, and Richford are experiencing more than 1,700 outages.

The town of Dickinson Supervisor, Mike Marinaccio told 12 News a tree is down in Chenango County near Rockdale and a tree and wires are down near Vestal Center in Broome County. Both of these updates are incoming information as of 7 P.M.
