‘Battle of the Badges’ to raise money and blood donations

ENDICOTT (WBNG) -- As the country crawls out of the pandemic, more people are in need of blood donations.

However, local entities such as the Endicott Police and Fire Departments have found a fun, but important way to raise awareness for this issue. Starting tomorrow at noon the 'Battle of the Badges' returns.

It's a competition between the two entities to see who can donate more blood.
Area Booking Manager for the American Red Cross says it's a 'win-win' scenario for everyone.

"I am totally neutral but I'm sure there are many folks out there that know a policeman or a fireman or knows a family member so if they could encourage their friends and family to go out. They might be able to tip the scales and at the same time we get some much needed blood."

Sullivan adds that in addition to full blood donations, the Red Cross is also looking for people to donate platelets.

She says events like 'Battle of the Badges' are a great way to start, but you are also welcome to stop into a Red Cross location as well.
