Power outages, damage reported following storms

(WBNG) -- NYSEG is reporting more than 1,500 customers are without power across Tioga and Broome counties Tuesday.

According to the NYSEG Outage Map, a majority of the outages are in the Town of Barton and the Town of Tioga in Tioga County.

The outages were reported as strong thunderstorms rolled through the Southern Tier Tuesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued several storm reports in Broome County, including:

  • Knocked down wires and transformers due to winds at the Whitney Point Fairgrounds
  • Large tree limbs and broken utility poles due to winds in Port Dickinson
  • Tree down on house due to winds in Kirkwood
