BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- The Binghamton Rumble Ponies shut out the Portland Sea Dogs in the first game of the series Tuesday night.
Rumble Ponies - 9 (32-44), Sea Dogs - 0 (47-29)
In the bottom of the second, a sacrifice fly from Nick Meyer brought in the first run of the game to give Binghamton a 1-0 lead.
The Rumble Ponies increased their lead with three runs in the sixth and five runs in the eighth.
Jose Butto had six scoreless innings tonight with five hits, four strikeouts and allowed one walk.
Binghamton and Portland continue their series Tuesday night with a doubleheader. Game one begins at 5:30 p.m. with the second game to follow.
