JOHNSON CITY (WBNG)-- The 3rd Annual Harper M. Stantz Rec Park Music Fest is set for Aug. 8 from 1 to 9:30 p.m. at Recreation Park.
This is the 26th year of the Rec Park Music Fest but starting in 2019, it was renamed the Harper M. Stantz Rec Park Music Fest.
"The reason I re-named it and I thought it was important because Harper's family - the Stantz family have always been staunch supporters of the event," Organizer Jim Reyen said. "You'd look out in the front and the family would be dancing, they always attended they were in the front row."
Reyen told 12 News it was only fitting to rename this music festival in Harper's honor.
"I believe and I think the family believes that it represents her life," Reyen said. "She loved music, she loved friends, she loved community she loved getting out and having a good time and being social so I think it's captures a lot of Harper's personality."
Sunday's event will feature musical performances from Unity Group, Home Brew, Chaka and more! Come see your favorite regional talent, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy the summer weather for an afternoon of free music.
An afternoon of live music, food, and activities for the whole family to enjoy!
