ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) --New York health officials say they will soon issue state guidance on giving additional COVID-19 vaccine doses to people with severely weakened immune systems, now that the federal government is allowing them extra shots.
State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker said Saturday that the state's vaccine task force met Friday to discuss the matter. Zucker says the group will complete its review quickly.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Friday that transplant recipients and other similarly immune-compromised patients can get a third dose of the usually two-shot Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.
But that doesn't apply to the general public
