(WBNG) -- Governor Kathy Hochul announced Monday an agenda to help women seeking abortion care in response to anti-abortion laws in Texas and other parts of the country.

Governor Hochul has directed state agencies to create a statewide public information campaign that will help women understand the rights and legal protections and help ensure that this information is easily accessible.

Additionally, Hochul directed the New York State Department of Health to develop and distribute "modern and comprehensive provider guidance on the right to provide abortion care and to ensure updates to existing regulations are adopted so that medication abortion can be more easily accessed during telehealth visits."

A part of the governor's plan was to combat misinformation on abortion issues. As part of the plan, Hochul wrote a letter to Facebook urging the social media company to provide information on current efforts to lower the amount of abortion misinformation online. Additionally, the letter asks Facebook to stop misinformation about abortion laws, regulations and availability.
