JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) -- The Endicott Lions Club is set to host the first Punt, Pass and Kick Competition in New York.
The Punt, Pass and Kick Competition is an event previously put on by the NFL and hosted at different event sites across the United States. Endicott Lions Club President David Hubman said hosting this event will allow the Endicott Lions Club to continue building relationships with the surrounding communities.
"Punt, Pass and Kick USA picked it up and started it again several years ago," Hubman said. "We saw it as an opportunity to build relationships with the Endicott community and we're hoping for a good turnout on Saturday."
In addition to the competition, the Lions Club will be offering free eye screenings. Hubman said as a service organization vision is one of the Lions Club's main service areas.
"When we formed internationally Helen Keller came and spoke at a convention and asked the Lions Club to become Knights of the Blind," Hubman said. "So we do a lot of eye screenings and we support families with children who need eyeglasses but cannot afford them."
The Punt, Pass and Kick Competition will be held Sept. 18 at the Union-Endicott High School Football Field at 5 p.m.
This free event is open to all children ages 6 to 15. Winners from each category will advance to a Regional Competition.
