BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- A Michigan man plead guilty to attempted menacing of a police officer in Broome County Court Tuesday.

According to the Broome County District Attorney's Office, Colin Yurick of Brighton, Mich. plead guilty to pointing a loaded air pistol at a Vestal Police Officer while in a stopped vehicle on State Route 17 in Vestal in March 2020. The police officer shot Yurick in response, the District Attorney's Office noted.

Of the case, District Attorney Korchak said:

"By this guilty plea, the defendant admits that he attempted to place the officer in fear of serious physical injury or death. As in this case, when you point what appears to be a handgun at a police officer, the officer is justified in defending himself against the potential threat. A review of the body cam footage showed that Officer Fiacco acted and responded appropriately."

Yurick is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 14 to the 18 months he has been in custody and then will be extradited to Pennsylvania to face additional charges.
