WASHINGTON (WBNG) -- 12 News will be in Washington, D.C. all day Wednesday with the Twin Tiers Honor Flight.

52 veterans from the Twin Tiers will fly down to the nation's capital to visit the monuments and memorials that were constructed in honor of those who served the United States.

It will be the Honor Flight's first trip to Washington in two years. The non-profit organization's first mission was in 2014. Veterans are taken to the memorials at no cost.

This year, veterans will visit the Vietnam and Korean veterans memorial walls, the Arlington National Cemetary, and they will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony.

The veterans will return home at the Greater Binghamton Airport around 7 p.m. Wednesday to a celebration. The public may attend the welcome back celebration but they will need to stay outside of a designated zone.

12 News will have live coverage of the Twin Tiers Honor Flight mission in its noon, 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m. newscasts.
