(WBNG) -- New York's Independent Redistricting Commission has released the first redistricting maps based on the 2020 Census; the commission announced it could not come to a consensus, leading to the release of multiple maps.
Due to the results of the 2020 Census, New York will lose one congressional seat. The state delegation in the House of Representatives will be reduced from 27 to 26.
The maps above showcase what the New York congressional districts may look like in the future. These are not the finalized map of congressional districts in the state.
The 2020 Census data was released in April 2021.
