Vaccination rates for healthcare workers are on the rise, according to NY State survey


(WBNG) -- Governor Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday that health care staff vaccination rates have been rising in New York State based on data from the New York State Department of Health.

Governor Hochul said since Aug. 24, the percentage of nursing-home staff that received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has increased to 92% from 71%, the percentage of adult-care facilities staff that received one of of the vaccine increased to 89% from 77% and the percentage of hospital staff that received at least one dose increased to 92% from 77%.

Hochul's Office said it surveyed hospitals, nursing homes and adult-care facilities on Sept. 27 to determine the vaccination status of workers in health care settings using a Health Electronic Response Data System.

The deadline for workers in health care settings to be vaccinated was Sept. 27. Governor Hochul signed an executive order that utilizes the National Guard to assist in places where there may be a shortage of workers due to the vaccine mandate.
