Meet your Host: Kara Conrad

Kara Conrad is the host/producer of an afternoon segment called Around the Tiers. She joined WBNG in May 2015 as a news producer.

Kara graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego in May 2015 with a B.A. in Broadcast and Mass Communication.

She also attended Tompkins Cortland Community College where she received two Associate Degrees: One in General Studies and the other in Communication and Media Arts.

Kara was born and raised in Dryden, New York and graduated from Dryden High School in 2009. She continues to participate in events at the school, including the Career Expo.

Before Kara joined WBNG, she interned with the morning talk show, “Bridge Street” at News Channel 9 in Syracuse. Her first time “on-air” was in a class at TC3, where she anchored, produced and reported. That’s where she first fell in love with broadcasting.

At SUNY Oswego, Kara was part of several student organizations on campus, including the college’s television station WTOP-10, where she was a producer and anchor. Later she became an Executive Producer of the Nightly News as well as a co-creator/co-host /producer of a Friday morning talk show called “The Morning Grind.”

She is still involved with SUNY Oswego as a member of the GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) Leadership Council.

When Kara isn’t working she loves to discover new places and activities Around the Tiers.
