Mental Health Awareness Month aiming to break the stigma about mental health

Each year millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental illness, Mental Health Awareness Month aims to break the stigma about mental health and help everyone feel comfortable about seeking treatment and more.

Nearly 450 million people worldwide are currently living with a mental illness, yet nearly two thirds of people with a known mental illness never seek treatment.

The Samaritan Couseling Center in the Southern Tier is hoping to help break the stigma during this month as well. The center offers compassion and confidentiality, with each client and therapist working together to understand and resolve various issues.  The counseling team is specifically trained to respect the client’s spiritual and religious values and practices.

Counseling is a healing and empowering process involving the whole person – body, mind, spirit and community.

If you’d like more information about the Samaritan Counseling Center you can go online, go on Facebook or call (607) 754-2660.
