BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — The winner of this year’s Binghamton Business Plan Competition is Parlor City Vegan, a mobile vegan food cafe, according to Binghamton officials.
Parlor City Vegan, which was awarded a $5,000 check, plans to open a dairy-free comfort food manufacturing and retail center.
The idea of Parlor City Vegan started out as a way for Sara Liu to make dairy-free comfort food for her father.
Over the years, Liu and her husband have established the company through catering and serving food every weekend at the farmer’s market.
"The business has really expanded and that’s only one day a week so we can’t wait to see, um, what’s in store for us once we have a permanent physical location in the city," said Parlor City Vegan Owner Sara Liu.
Besides the cash prize, Parlor City Vegan will receive free accounting, legal and branding services from other local businesses.
