BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — The Children’s Home is showing appreciation to all of Broome County’s foster parents.

A dinner at the Holiday Inn on Wednesday served as a token of their appreciation for the parents of the 118 local homes the Children’s home is serving.

It’s just one way to recognize all the hard work and kind hearts of the area’s foster parents to give children a brighter future.

Two of them are Peter and Francisco. They’re also celebrating finalizing the adoption of their new son on Wednesday after fostering him through the Children’s Home for years.

“Every child deserves a better chance of having a good life,” says Peter. “Sam has been with us since 2015, and he is happy. He has always had the fear of being taken away, but thank God now it’s all done and we are together.”

While the appreciation dinner happens once a year, the Children’s Home offers many opportunities for its foster parents to come together as a community to love and support each other.
