BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — A handful of local charity organIzations can breathe a sigh of relief, after receiving sizable donations from the Jim “Mudcat” Grant All-Star Golf Tournament.
Back in August, dozens of celebrities teed off at the Links at Hiawatha Landing, with the common goal of raising money for local charities.
On Monday morning, the various charity organizations gathered at the Security Mutual building to accept their awards.
The Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton, Broome County Urban League, CHOW, and Catholic Charities all received a $10,000 donation.
The Homeless Veteran’s Project also took home a donation worth more than $7,100.
Organizers of the annual golf tournament say they feel obligated to give back to their community.
“We do it every year because that’s part of our responsibility as a corporation. This city cares a lot, and it’s our way of giving back to the city,” said President and C.E.O. of Security Mutual Bruce Boyea.
Organizers say these donations will help fund each charity organizations’ day-to-day operations.
This was the 18th year the tournament has been held.
