Officials say no one injured in Hancock house fire

HANCOCK (WBNG) – The Hancock Fire Department says no one was injured after a house was engulfed in flames on County Highway 28 Friday night.

Officials say they got to the scene close to 11:30 p.m. and contained the fire quickly, but they say the house is a total loss due to extensive damage caused by the flames.

The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Officials say it is a seasonal home.

The fire is still under investigation. In a press release, the Hancock Fire Department said the fire appears to be accidental.

The East Branch Fire Department, Town of Hancock Ambulance, Delaware County Office of Emergency Services, Delaware County Cause and Origin Team, NYSEG, Equinunk Fire Department, Delaware County 911 and the Hancock Fire Department Auxiliary also responded to the scene.
