VESTAL (WBNG) — Nearly 400 people gathered at Binghamton University to make challah, a traditional Jewish bread.

It’s part of the Mega Challah Bake, a movement recognized all over the world for communities to come together to make the bread.

Everyone in attendance made two challah breads, one for themselves and one to give to another.

“It’s really important to get back to your roots and just do something meaningful,” says Binghamton University student Thomas Block. “Making here, I’ll have one loaf of challah for myself and I’ll give one to someone who might need or just simply wants it. And they’ll feel good too about that.”

Different flavors of challah were there to try as well, including S’mores and Fun-Fetti.

This is the third year the Chabad Center for Jewish Life at Binghamton University has held the event.
