“It’s important for our community because veterans play such an important part,” says Franklin. “It’s fantastic what veterans have done for us, for our freedom and for the way of life we take for granted sometimes.”
Veterans Day Career Fair gives veterans high priority to employers
TOWN OF DICKINSON (WBNG) — A job fair connected those who have served in the military to local employment, just in time for Veterans Day.
The annual Veterans Day Career Fair took place at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County.
Local veterans were given early admission before opening to the public, allowing employers to give them higher attention and priority.
More than 80 employers were there, including Steven Franklin from Lowe’s, who’s a veteran himself.
The New York State department of labor partnered with Job Service Employer Committee to give veterans this opportunity.
