BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — The Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton hosted its annual Bids for Kids fundraiser at the Holiday Inn in downtown Binghamton Thursday.

This is the 26th year the organization has run the silent auction, and this year around 150 items were sold to raise money for the club.

In addition to the silent auction, 18 items high-end items were auctioned off live, including four tickets to a New York Yankees game, a sky box suite for a Rumble Ponies game and an all-included vacation to New Jersey.

The executive director of the group said this fundraiser is the largest one it holds every year, and that she couldn’t do her job without the community’s support.

“We have so many children at the club, the need is great and not always do we get the additional funds that we need but the community has been wonderful to us,” said Mary Beth Smith, who has spent 38 years working with children in the Southern Tier.

The event included food and drinks and ran from 5:30 to 7:30 Thursday night.
