TOWN OF DICKINSON (WBNG) — A group of pre-K students from Chenango Valley Nursery School took a trip to Broome-Tioga BOCES on Wednesday to learn through play.
The youngsters played computer games designed by high school computer science students.
The pre-K students learned how coding works and also how the games were made. They were even able to edit the code to see how it changed the game.
“There’s so many great skills that students can learn from coding that’re going to be necessary for jobs of the future, and just starting to set the thinking patterns for how to do things in specific orders, and creative ways is really important,” said P-Tech work-based coordinator Annie Cartie.
This is the second year the field trip was held. It was in celebration of National Computer Science Education Week.
