WINDSOR (WBNG) — A Windsor High School student made her broadway debut on Wednesday when she performed an original song for the matinee audience of ‘Hamilton.’
Samantha Sova will always remember the moments before taking the stage at Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City.
“I was getting really nervous. Then when I finally went out on stage and I started singing the song then people started clapping and cheering and everybody started getting into it,” Sova said.
The performance made her classmates extremely proud.
“They went wild. They jumped right up out of their seats. They were clapping. They were screaming,” Sarah Bidwell, a social studies teacher at Windsor High School, said.
Sova describes the moment as breathtaking.
“Once I was done performing it was like, ‘wow, I can’t believe I just did that,'” Sova said.
She sang an original piece, which she said took some time putting together.
“We had to do a lot of research for it,” Sova said, “it was very specific facts that you had to know for the song for everything to fit in.”
Bidwell said she was impressed by her cleverness and creativity.
“She took the ‘Big Bang Theory’ and talked about the different conflicts that Hamilton and Burr had throughout their professional careers and then it all ended in a big bang,” Bidwell said.
Although the performance is over the excitement continues.
“It’s amazing. People that don’t even know me are telling me they saw the video and it was amazing,” Sova said.
