Five indicted in Delaware County drug trafficking investigations

DELAWARE COUNTY (WBNG) — A Delaware County grand jury handed down several sealed indictments late last week following investigations into three separate narcotic trafficking investigations.

According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, the investigations were conducted in the Grand Gorge, Roxbury and the Village of Delhi areas by members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.

Authorities say the sealed indictment warrants were issued by the Delaware County Court Thursday afternoon executed Thursday evening and Friday morning by sheriffs investigators and deputies.

As a result, the following people were arrested:

Ramar Hassell, 50, Delhi

  • Two counts, criminal sale of a controlled substance, third degree, class B felony
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance, third degree, class B felony
  • Resisting arrest, class A misdemeanor
  • Unlawful possession of marijuana, violation

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Valerie L. Alexander, 54, Delhi

  • Criminal sale of a controlled substance, third degree, class B felony
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance, third degree, class B felony

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

William Effner, 25, Delhi

  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance, third degree, class B felony
  • Criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument, class A misdemeanor

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

According to the sheriff’s office, Hassell, Alexander and Effner, were charged in connection to the November raid of a home on Meredith Street in Delhi. Authorities say the search led to the seizure of more than a half-ounce of bulk, packaged heroin and three bundles (thirty bags) of packaged heroin. Deputies say Hassell and Alexander are accused of selling heroin in Delhi throughout October.

Authorities say Hassell, Alexander and Effner were have been held in the Delaware County Jail by court order since their arrests on November 5.

Lorelei Hayden, 53, Grand Gorge

  • Criminal sale of a controlled substance, third degree, class B felony
  • Criminal sale of a controlled substance, fourth degree, class C felony

Hayden is accused of selling oxycodone and hydrocodone from her Grand Gorge home in January 2018, according to the sheriff’s office.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Michael Johnson, 27, Roxbury

  • Three counts, criminal sale of a controlled substance, fourth degree, class C felony

Officials say Johnson is accused of selling suboxone from his Roxbury residence in April 2018.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Following their arraignment Friday, Hassell, Alexander, Effner and Johnson were sent to the Delaware County Jail without bail.

Hayden was jailed in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
