OWEGO (WBNG) — Town of Owego Supervisor Don Castellucci held the annual Memorial Blood Drive at the Owego Elks Club this afternoon.
The blood drive is in honor of Castellucci’s parents, Donald and Grace.
He has been holding the drive each year since his fathers death in 1997, adding his mother to the drive’s recognition in 2010.
Both died from cancer and relied on blood donations.
“We’ve probably affected now 1,900 lives by the amount that we’ve collected,” says Castellucci. “So especially this time of year when you give gifts, you might as well give the gift of life and help someone that could live a little longer. We feel good about that.”
A rigatoni and meatball dinner was served to all donors.
And the family collected food items to be donated to Tioga County Rural Ministry.
