NICHOLS (WBNG) — New York State Police say an Onondaga County man is facing a felony charge after having a package containing meth delivered to him at the Tioga Downs Resort and Casino.
According to police, the package addressed to hotel guest Michael Champlin, 34, of Camillus, was sent on Jan. 3.
State police say an investigation found that the package contained approximately 10 ounces of crystal meth, which has a street value of about $12,000.
Authorities say New York State Police personnel assigned to the casino detail contacted members of the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), who then obtained a search warrant for Champlin’s hotel room. Officials say they found more meth and drug paraphernalia inside the room.
Troopers say Champlin was arrested and charged with attempted possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class B felony.
Champlin was arraigned in Town of Nichols Court and sent to the Tioga County Jail without bail.
