JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) — Van Cott Jewelers said it had its best sales day in store history last week, after the business announced it would be closing its Oakdale Mall location.
“We’ve done a year’s business in one week,” said owner Bill Levine.
Van Cott Jewelers is offering up deep discounts, 30 to 60 percent off all jewelry, until it closes in late March.
While the sale has been successful, Levine said it’s bittersweet. “Some people bought their engagement ring here 30-years-ago and have been coming here ever since so there’s nostalgia,” he said.
Last Tuesday, is when the sale first started. Levine said it was the biggest day in the history of the store. And for those bargain shoppers, prices will continue to drop.
“It will be progressive there will be greater savings but right now its 30 to 60 percent off,” Levine explained.
We reached out to the Oakdale Mall and were given no comment. Levine said he has not heard from the mall at this point.
Van Cott’s Town Square Mall store in Vestal will remain open.
