(WBNG) — Amazon may have a change of heart about its second headquarters in New York City.
The Washington Post is reporting the online retail giant is reconsidering the Queens location.
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar sent a letter Friday to Amazon’s CEO inviting him to build the headquarters in our area.
Garnar says this would have an immense economic impact.
“Broome County at one point was the home of the largest shoe manufacturer in the world. It was home of the largest computer manufacturer in the world, IBM. I don’t see why it couldn’t be the home of the corporate headquarters of Amazon. It kind of makes sense,” he told 12 News.
Garnar added that Broome County is a prime location, as its surrounded by larger cities.
Today I wrote a letter to @amazon CEO @JeffBezos asking him to consider building their new corporate headquarters right here in Broome County, NY. Broome County will gladly take 25 thousand new jobs and $5 billion in new investment in a NY minute. https://t.co/1YAvLu63Vr
