BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — There’s something new at the Discovery Center in Binghamton.

The new exhibit at the Discovery Center is called Pet Vet.

The exhibit lets children read about pets and even play veterinarians.

The Discovery Center was joined by a few therapy dogs, as well as a few exotic pets from Animal Adventure Park.

Discovery Center officials stress the importance of teaching kids early on about having respect for animals.

“What we’re trying to do here is teach children how to take care of their pets, and how to provide, just love and care to animals, because we find that that’s a life cycle that’s really important to get kids started with early,” said Discovery Center Executive Director Abbey Hendrickson.

Since Monday is also Presidents Day, the Discovery Center also explored presidential pets, featuring some of the well-known, and not-so-well-known pets owned by United States presidents in the past.
