4 lbs of meth, loaded gun seized after unregistered vehicle stopped, deputies say

CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. (WBNG) — The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says a homeless man and a California woman are behind bars after a drugs and a loaded gun were found during a traffic stop Tuesday morning.

According the sheriff’s office, deputies stopped an unregistered vehicle around 8:20 a.m. in the parking lot of Big Lots on Route 281 in Cortlandville.

During the investigation, authorities say they found a loaded handgun, more than four pounds of meth, approximately 15 grams of marijuana and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Deputies say the driver, 35-year-old Kyle Leeper, who has no address, and passenger, 35-year-old Arlene Rodriquez of Montebello, California, were arraigned on the following charges and sent to the Cortland County Jail without bail.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
