$20,000 raised for teens seriously injured in Binghamton crash

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — The community has raised thousands of dollars for two teenagers who were seriously hurt when they were hit by a Jeep in Binghamton Monday afternoon.

According to a GoFundMe page, Harper Stantz and Britney Laserinko, were walking home from playing tennis together when they were struck.

The GoFundMe account had raised $20,000 by Tuesday afternoon.

Th Binghamton City School District released the following statement:
“We are deeply saddened by the news of the accident involving BHS student Harper Stantz and BHS graduate Britney Laserinko. These bright young women have been an important part of the BCSD community. Our hearts go out to the Stantz and Laserinko families during this difficult time. The district has social workers, psychologists and guidance counselors in place at the high school for any students or staff who need assistance.”

The Binghamton Police Department says 33-year-old Kevin Wilcox of Harpursville was impaired by drugs when he ran into the teens just before 3:30 p.m. on Beethoven Street.
