DICKINSON (WBNG) — Broome County Executive Jason Garnar held a lunch Tuesday for local veterans.

The purpose of the luncheon was to discuss the Veteran Resource Facility that is expected to open Fall of 2020.

It’s a project that has been two years in the making.

The facility will reside on an 80 acre plot which was once the Vestal Hills Country Club.

Jason Garnar spoke to veterans about the current progress of the project and what lies ahead. Veterans were given a chance to include feedback, give suggestions and learn more about what to expect.

“They’ve got some really great ideas about how they could personally, A. Get help from it, but also B. Provide — you know so they want to volunteer, they want to give back as well, so there’s a lot of excitement from a number of people we have talked to already.” said Broome County Executive Jason Garnar.

The facility will offer services from the Veterans Service Agency, Clear Path for Veterans inc. and the Southern Tier Veterans support group.
