Police identify Johnson City shooting victim

JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) — The Johnson City Police Department on Tuesday identified the man killed in a weekend shooting.

Police say 50-year-old Shakeel Khan of Johnson City was murdered at approximately 10 p.m. Saturday near the corner of Grand Avenue and Riverside Drive. Khan was pronounced dead at UHS Wilson Hospital.

Detectives continue their search for the gunman, who was reportedly wearing dark clothing and a dark mask over his face. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (607) 729-9321.

According to the Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier, Khan was closing his business, Halal Bites, when he was fatally shot. The organization has created a GoFundMe account for Khan’s family.
