BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — This week marks National Volunteer week and the Broome County United Way is celebrating with volunteer training.
It held the 2019 Annual National Volunteer Week Training Conference and Volunteer recognition luncheon Wednesday. Professionals from across the area attended the day’s training sessions.
Training sessions and workshops were held throughout the morning Wednesday, where volunteers exchanged ideas and talked about what worked and what didn’t so they could continue running successful volunteer organizations. Then, the luncheon was held in the afternoon to honor those who did outstanding volunteer work in the last year.
“We put on training, or workshops, throughout the morning. Then our participates have the opportunity to enjoy a lovely lunch, some time together, and receive some awards and recognition for their volunteer service throughout the year,” said Executive Director of the United Way of Broome County Jacqueline Gerchman.
More than 100 volunteers were recognized by several organizations during the luncheon.
