VESTAL (WBNG) — The AEPi chapter at Binghamton University is rockin’ for a cause.

Over a 48 hour period, AEPi brother Joey Kirsch will rock in a rocking chair at the Spine, an area in the middle of BU’s campus. The fraternity is raising money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and The Israel Children’s Cancer Foundation.

“At the end it’s also about money, but it’s also about the awareness for cancer research. The key thing about this is cancer research,” said Zachary Herz, the co-chair for this year’s Rock-A-Thon.

Kirsch will not be allowed to leave the rocking chair, but the fraternity has made plans for if he needs to move.

“He gets wheeled to the bathroom. Basically, the [wagon] we wheeled him to the Spine in, is the way we’ll wheel him to the bathroom. Every now and then we wheel him across the Spine during the day,” said Herz.

How does Kirsch feel about all of this?

“It’s going to be tough, but it’s for a really good cause so that’s all that matters at the end of the day,” said Kirsch.
